11 months 3 weeks
Gosh so much has been happening I don't know where to start!
Simon came to stay for 4 days and we just had a blast! On one of the days Aiden developed a bad case of thrush after a particularly wet and yucky nappy during the night. I had to whisk him off to the Dr so I left Kate with Simon for several hours. Randall dropped in to see Simon during that time and between them they actually managed to change Kate's nappy and get her to take a nap. Well done boys!
After a month of sleep issues we have decided to be firm. Aiden had gotten spoilt by being nursed during the night whilst he was teething and now he expects it. For the past 3 nights we have done some controlled crying and things have improved. Only took half an hour the first night (at 1am) before he went back to sleep. I have also been putting them back to bed after their 6am-6:30am feed and they have slept until about 7:15am. I am hoping that soon they will move this feed to 7:15am....I can dream can't I?
Both Kate and Aiden have had a mild case of gastro. Kate now seems to have a sensitive gag reflex and will often throw up when she gets a lumpy bit of food. A major part of this is her greed in swallowing straight away. We are SLOWLY moving towards finger food. Aiden will now eat a biscuit on his own.
Kate waves at us intermittently when the mood takes her. Aiden did it once but I don't think he knew what he was doing. They have both pulled up, once for Aiden, twice for Kate but don't seem to be in any great hurry. They love crawling all over the house and do so at a rapid pace.
They understand so much of what we are saying. Sometimes I will try to get Kate to drink milk (which we have watered down) out of a cup. Often she will refuse so I will offer her a cup of water which she immediately pushes away. If I say, "Water," she turns her head back eagerly and drinks.
We are also trying to train Kate not to pull Aiden's hair by saying a firm NO and moving her away. It's still her favourite hobby and she will often pull him closer so she can get a better grip. Aiden did get her back last week, much to her shock!
They do a whole lot of imitating which is just so funny. They will make clicking sounds when we do, wag their tongues and screw up their noses. They really are very cute.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY TO THE DYNAMIC DUO!!
Today we celebrated Kate and Aiden's birthday with the babies from our Parent Group (Mums even came along too!). Kate and Aiden had a blast the whole time.
They are both now pulling up and standing. Kate is fully weaned and they are both eating some finger food. Life sure is different when you are 1!
What did Kate get up to while Daddy played Play Station??
First she played with the toys.. |
Then she sorted out the linen press... |
Then she played in the study... |
She figured she would sort out Daddy's shoes... |
As well as his shirts.... |
Kate is so full of life and fun! She's a delightful, cheeky, busy little girl. When she and Aiden play in the other room you hear her war cry and you know some terrible thing is about to happen to Aiden. Sure enough she has his head rammed into the ground as she grabs bits of his hair with each hand. All with her irresistible smile....

12 and a half months
We all survived the first birthday party and Kate and Aiden did really well. There was plenty of food and merriment, the only hitch being a power failure half way through!
Kate and Aiden have been enjoying their new toys and continue to stand up at any opportunity. They are comprehending more and more each day. Their imitation is very cute. Now, if we do a fake little sneeze with our hand at our month, Kate will do the same.
Our Auntie Trina arrived from Queensland bearing gifts. One of which has brought on an obsession in Kate. It is a little red car and she loves to sit and ride it. Only problem is she can't touch the ground so you have to wheel her backwards and forwards......for hours. There are wear marks in the rug.
Aiden has now been weaned off the evening feed, so he is only breastfed in the morning. He has done really well with this although he doesn't really drink much milk. Luckily he has lots of yogurt and milk in his food. He is STILL having sleep issues but we are hoping to have turned the corner. Just when we think we have made inroads he changes the rules. He has a slight cold at the moment so that doesn't help. Boy am I sick of waking up at 5am!
